Based out of New Orleans, hip hop artist Austin Rapbaum is a double threat. Having previously come across my radar as a rapper, his latest project comes from the producer’s chair.
In a new segment with director Huey Knox entitled, 30 Minutes Or Less, Austin was forced with the task of making a beat in you guessed it, 30 minutes or less. He looked through a predetermined album, found a sample, and started the clock. In a 30 minute time span, Austin was able to chop the sample, lay the sample, and add the drums as well as the rest of the beat’s instrumentation.
You can check out the segment that includes the making of the beat above and hear what its final product (now called “Vivir”) sounds like through the SoundCloud stream at the beginning of this post.
If you like what you hear be sure to follow Austin on SoundCloud and stay tuned for his entire beat tape coming early this year.
