Earlier this week, we got acquainted with Orlando rapper Amiri Khaalid on his single “Graces.” His lyrical precision and smooth flow led us to announce the track here at NewSickMusic. It was a promising single for the 21-year-old artist and gave of us a delightful taste of what was to come.
Khaalid is back on NSM as we premiere his debut EP, ‘Transparency.’ The seven track project is packed with honest, clever lyrics that testify as much to Amiri’s skills as to his passion for hip-hop. ‘Transparency,’ which includes production credits from CMBeats and SASQUATCH, explores social issues and personal tribulations, religion and current events, wordplay and honesty. It’s Khaalid at his rawest and most vulnerable, but with the skills to back it up.
“I hope listeners will take away that I am a regular person that goes through the same struggles that anyone else goes through,” said Khaalid. “One of people’s biggest fears, in my opinion, is feeling like no one understands what they are going through and that they are alone. This EP is for anyone who feels that way.”
‘Transparency’ is available to stream on SoundCloud. Listen to it below.
