Andy Evans is a guitar-wielding Texas-based tour de force, and Miracle is his latest offering — or rather, his latest musical explosion. The opening track, titled “Intro” is electronic chaos. The song is perfectly unpredictable, yet the skill involved adds order. Throughout Miracle, it becomes clear that Andy Evans is a big emotions kind of musician. Each song feels like a statement, and each statement is powerful. “45” makes this clear, as does “Judas”, which brings Black Keys vibes with a grunge icing (it’s tastier than it sounds, really).
But it’s in the title track that we gain a little of everything on this album. Catchy, with carefully crafted hooks, but as its core a love song. The guitar solo brings Andy Evans’ talent to the forefront, while the fusion of genres gives an original twist to his rock base.
But it isn’t all big tracks on Miracle. In “Lesson Learned”, he slows down and adds a hypnotic delicateness. “Make It” is a sprawling, dark jam. There is something almost gothic in the album closer. Truly, there is something for everyone on Miracle, which will be released on January 26th, 2016.
