BUNNIES have a history in the music world that has helped them become the wonderfully strange act that they are today. This psychedelic rock project is co-fronted by Jeremy Dubs and Jack Science, who were in Speak!, Severe Severe, and Rabbit Rabbit. Dubs has even worked with the Pixies. BUNNIES’ drummer, Matthew Newman, has also worked with the Pixies, as well as Panda Bear and more, as a music video director. All of this has come together to create not only a band with a vision for themselves and their sound, but with the opportunities to elevate their art into a new realm. There may be no better example of this than the clip for “The Problem with Link Think”.
The song itself is almost chaotic in an entrancing way. Feel the tug of it as it dips in and out of madness while the guitars wail. The vocals careen but then blast forward. The crash of symbols adds a fuzzy haze. The accompanying video also dives into a different world. We begin with some kids in a restaurant who, with a green two-horned monster, end up travelling into another dimension and going through all sorts of psychedelic experiences. When they return to reality, the octopus balls they ordered are up and everything is back where it should be. Except, perhaps, the monster.
