Over the last few months, Oakland hip-hop artist, C5 has quickly become a #NSM staff favorite, so it’s no surprise that his latest two tracks have found a home on our homepage.
“Revelations Freestyle” and “Bubble Coat 5” are the latest releases in C5’s very busy 2016, a year that’s seen not only the release of the final volume of his Dorm Flow series (Dorm Flow 2), but also multiple music video releases as well (“All Or Nothing”, “Nothin Left”.)
The two tracks, while different from each other, both exemplify all the qualities of why we love C5’s music.
“Revelations Freestyle” has a very chill vibe that’s complimented nicely by C5’s smooth flows.
It’s an honest look at the relationship between C5 and the different women that have played a role in his life. “Nothing worth having in this world comes easy”. (Fun fact, this was my senior quote.. Well not this verbatim, but close). C5’s impressive story-telling quality is especially evident with this one.
Going in for about two and a half minutes, C5 spits on a wide variety of topics, such as what type of artist he is, as well as what you can expect from him for the future. Graduating from CSU Dominguez Hills is definitely something to celebrate, but by no means necessary is it where C5 is drawing the line. The work ethic on this guy is crazy and I can’t wait to see where he takes it next.
If I know C5, there’s plenty more where this came from, so keep your eyes peeled!
