Chameleon Technology is the name of Max Histrionic’s one-man project that uses peculiar performance design and a blend of heavy genres to create something unique. At performances, video and high quality audio of Histrionic playing drums and bass is projected next to him as he plays live guitar and sings. This in no way overshadows the originality of the music. Check out the video for title track “Blank Canvas” above to understand the way Chameleon Technology (or ChamTech for short) embrace unsettling ideas (identity and moving forward in the face of heartbreak) through surreal and haunting images.
The EP (which you can find here) unveils the more metal-influenced aspects of ChamTech. From the rapid-fire of “No Safe Word”, to the sweet and sour progression of “Serin’s Vending” which has the ability to jump start the energy of a room. The catchy “Lifestyle Science” is a highlight as it seems to almost question ideas of humanity within the dualities. “Self Repair” slows the tempo and uses harmonies and spacious guitar sounds to create a completeness before “Blank Canvas” brings on a swell of emotion.
