Chloe Tang is three-for-three in the last year. Having released two singles to acclaim, she’s now back with “Take Care” — a song that celebrates the value of being taken care of, a need that can be scary to admit we have.
Don’t be distracted from Tang’s powerful independence. The Phoenix native, now LA resident, is a clear powerhouse on her own. Tang’s vocals slide from breathy to concrete-quickness with an addictive turn as the chorus launches, but she can also make her voice grand and smooth. Early in the song she refers to herself as average. The control she has over her sound here makes that hard to believe.
The lyrics and themes stay relatable without being cliche. “Take Care” is a love song at heart, and the power of this is embedded in the layers that build. The pulse is in the piano which both opens and closes the track. It’s as delicate as it is catchy, setting a tone for the song thematically.
