Over three years. That’s how long it has been since we have heard music from David Morris. Except, last time we heard music from David it was under his rap moniker D-Why. It seemed as if D-Why would be the next artist to blow up. I mean with songs like “One Day,” “Macchiato Music” etc. and projects like “Don’t Flatter Yourself” & “Young, Loved, Hated & Broke” one would not be surprised. And then, just as his buzz was growing there was nothing. For the next few years there was nothing but cryptic messages from David Morris’ twitter promising new music soon.
As Morris kept promising new music, I kept getting more and more anxious. D-Why or better yet David Morris was an artist I listened to constantly, way before I even began to pursue working in the music industry as a photographer/writer. So when David promised new music in 2017, I was geeked. Flash forward to August, and here we are.
David Morris delivers his brand new single, “Settle Down” after a very long wait. Well I will be the first to say that it was absolutely worth the wait. The music is a departure from D-Why’s music but is really not a departure from himself. If anything, you could say “Settle Down” is David being true to his roots. The closest we have heard to this from Morris was his songs “Song For Newtown,” “2000 Miles,” and “We Don’t Know” to name a few. It appears in his time off, David Morris has worked really hard on honing his sound and he has done a fantastic job in doing so.
Morris has a fantastic autobiographical style of songwriting. “Settle Down” is David Morris’ first release in awhile, but it was worth the wait and it is worth the listen. Check it out now!
