Gearing up towards a March 11th release of their self-titled EP, London alt-rockers FADES are bringing the energy with their single, “Breaking Through The Walls”. The track is an impassioned noisy rock song that is somehow both fuzzy and precise. The chorus brings with it a raw optimism and the enthusiasm is nothing short of infectious. The accompanying music video is a similarly high-energy glimpse at a mini tour that spans from the outset of the trip to the deliriously lively nighttime conclusion.
The rest of FADES EP keeps up the pace, with experiments in genre and range. From the soft-loud-soft cycle of “Before My Eyes” to the Radiohead-esque music box delicacy of “Everybody Knows”. Often reminiscent of diverse acts such as Queens of the Stone Age or Manic Street Preachers, FADES use crunchy guitar and dazzling lyrics (for example, “The Killing Floor” pairs violent imagery with words of devotion) to create their own unique sonic blend.
