Florence + The Machine – “Ship to Wreck”

Florence has graced us with a new track from the upcoming LP How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, and lyrically, it’s a stunner. In “Ship to Wreck” she wonders out loud about the relationship between creating and destroying. “I can’t help but pull the earth around me to make my bed,” she croons. And what a croon. As usual, the vocals of Florence Welch are uniquely awe inspiring.

The accompanying single artwork shows a melancholy Florence in a shiny nighttime rain-scape. Perhaps the image is more subdued than the song itself — which rises with the trademark Florence + The Machine power — but it speaks thematically to the darker, contemplative aspects of the song.

How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful will be the group’s third LP, following Lungs (2009) and Ceremonials (2011). The album is set to be released on June 1st, 2015. The group also has a busy summer ahead of them, keep up with festival appearances on their website.
