Despite the name of the band he travels with — The Sleeping Souls — it doesn’t seem that Frank Turner ever sleeps himself. As evidence, this newest track from his not-yet-titled sixth album was released while he was at SXSW partaking in discussions.
“Get Better” begins in that angry, resilient way that Turner could just about trademark at this point. We see his tattooed hand writing (or signing) out the lyrics as they occur, often with breaks to focus on sketches and art pieces. It’s hard to not feel empowered while seeing and hearing lyrics like these.
Later this month, Turner will head out on a tour to promote his memoir, The Road Beneath My Feet, and will make a special solo appearance at the Reading and Leeds Festival in August. See what I mean about the seeming lack of sleep? Now I just need to figure out how the quality of his work is consistently so high.
