Future Elevators put New Orleans in the spotlight on their video for the rhythmic and addictive “Modern World”. Beginning via vehicle with street-side views and then settling in with people — mostly happy, but there’s a variety of expressions — as they dance or stare into the camera, “Modern World” feels like a love letter to humanity, to diversity, and to the city in which it was filmed.
The premise of togetherness may be simple, but the effect is grand. Eyes become the focal point of the video: everyone shares them until they become windows, and puddles, and even a filter. It’s a modern and sweet roll of images to balance the upbeat track. The video connects the individuals, but never stops appreciating them for their individuality (just check out some of those moves). Heavy percussion and high, eclectic vocals lifts the track to another plane, somewhere where dancing in the street is the new way of saying ‘hello’.
