Following the excellent Before the World Was Big in 2015, Girlpool, consisting of Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad, have unveiled the latest track off their forthcoming LP, Powerplant.
“123,” which was released as a video, is an anthemic triumph. The song builds from its guitar and bass foundation into an epic full band juggernaut. The video complements the themes of the song well, showing Tucker navigating her way through a relationship in the midst of anxiety — which manifests itself in her bleeding green paint.
From the looks of it, the album will have a much bigger sound than their stripped back sound on previous records, as the duo implemented a full band setup this time around. If this wonderful lead single is any indication, Girlpool may be poised to drop one of the best rock albums of the year.
