Karaoke is fun. How come so few people are ready to admit that it’s fun? It’s an atmosphere of appreciation for music, camaraderie free of judgement, a series of moments shared between people. Maybe karaoke gets a bad rap because it never looks glamorous. Gitty is looking to change that in his video for track “Karaoke” which features the talents of Rose Gold and Trinidad James.
Ironically, “Karaoke” would be a difficult song to sing at karaoke, but that doesn’t mean its not a whirlwind of a good time. Starting off with smooth R&B vibes and moving into Rose Gold’s sweet hook (the most sing-a-long-able moment in the track), the song then swirls into a verse dropped by Trinidad James. It’s a dose of spice, but still as smooth as the song requires.
The clip moves with an equal sleekness from the streets of Chinatown to the karaoke lounge, with Gitty following a rising karaoke star and finding himself enchanted in a world of dancing and passion. If you’re thinking that this karaoke looks too good to be true, just wait until Gitty gets out the guitar for a smoking solo, or when the strings that have accented the track throughout make a guest appearance.
While the karaoke experience depicted may be the stuff of fiction, the energy of karaoke is caught, and the warmth of the song becomes addictive. Don’t sleep on this: get out and dance to it.
