The smooth R&B soul vibes of Harlequiin return on “Something To Believe In”. The multi-instrumentalist shows once again his skill for timing, for knowing when to give it all to the track and knowing when to pull back.
“Something To Believe In” is almost romantic, but becomes bigger than that. It’s a plea, held in the darkness of the lilting synths and the occasional emotional chaos reflected in the layers of the track. “I love it when we argue, I’m excited when we fight, ’cause I know that you can make it better, baby all night,” Harlequiin sings with a distant coolness. With guest vocals by Amelka May, the songs finds the place where sweetness can blend into something tart, and where soul meets electronic music.
