For a song and clip that exist on the belief that love can create a sense of magic in the world, “Crazy Comes Easy” feels exceptionally authentic. There is so much joy in the upbeat percussion and the bouncing organ. Licks of guitar give a country flare as Jackie’s Greene’s vocals delight in the craziness that love can create: but always, we sense, in the best way. After years of creating music in a range of genres (Americana, folk, rock, and even pop among them), Greene is here now with a track that showcases his skill and his passion.
The accompanying music video follows a woman whose optimism is, quite literally, infectious. In a black and white world, sometimes all you need is someone to remind you of the colour. Our protagonist is clad in colourful garb and full of rock-and-roll spirit. Watching the way she shapes the world around her is both inspirational and comforting, and it’s almost sad to watch her drive on to change the world elsewhere at the end of the video.
You could call “Crazy Comes Easy” a blues-rock song, but only if the blue you are imagining is that of the sky, or the endless ocean. This is the kind of song that reminds you there is beauty in the world.
