Jesse James Solomon had a poppin’ 2015. After releasing The Ride Home EP, and releasing a video its title track, Jesse is crafting himself a reputation for dropping the freshest and most creative videos in the UK. Following last year’s “The Ride Home” visuals (which nabbed a Noisey premiere), Jesse released his first video of 2016 yesterday with a disconcerting new video for “YPT”.
A moody and drawling take on the phrase “this could be us but you playin’ though”, Jesse’s sound have always carried a dark and very distinctly London tone.
Talking to FADER (who premiered the track), Jesse said:
“”She played tennis, I retired from football about 18 months ago. When I said she was playing I was serious—she was almost too busy pursuing her tennis career to engage with my attempts at her heart. So I made a song and hooked up with Noah Lee, who is a wonderful filmmaker from L.A. and we created a beautiful visual to accompany this piece.”
The video offers some surrealist escapism, with melting floors, joint smoking puppets, and an uncomfortable hospital scene. This video is definitely sick!
