In jazz, nuance can be everything. Joan Torres understands this well.

The bassist, composer, and producer brought the All is Fused ensemble together to record 2019’s Revolution: a collection of songs that feature a revolving cast of guest stars. The record was an intricate success that proved the ensemble’s diversity of talent. But one lingering question remained for Torres. What would the final track on the album, “Finale”, sound like with the perfect guest artist?

That’s where Bubby Lewis comes in. Another exceptional bassist, Lewis brings a stronger pulse to the song, which moves with a chill sense until it thrills with complexity. Keys and guitar weave around each other and fall into sync, while exceptional percussion keeps the track on its toes. When the bass comes in to shine, feel the breath leave your body.

Joan Torres and Bubby Lewis let the bass keep the song steady but are not afraid to get busy. As the speed picks up, the song becomes a living thing that fills a room.
