Kormac channels the energy of gospel music with his electronic house groove “I Believe”. The Irish producer uses pulsing piano and repeated riffs to build skillful crescendos not only out of addition, but also from the careful subtraction of sound. “I Believe” doesn’t hesitate to open into the repeated shout of — you guessed it — “I believe!”, but waits to pull back and let the track open up with a sprinkle of glittery synths. This is passion that you can dance to.
The video for the track is fuelled by choice cinematography and a perfectly simple concept. A woman struggles to stand, to walk, to move towards the ocean that calls her, and as the music swells and floats, we watch as she finds her own way forward. The track and the video both toe the line between wistful and inspirational, and the feelings are contagious.
Until June 30th, Kormac is holding a competition for those who would like to remix the track. You can find more information about that here.
