It’s old. It’s new. It brought about the term “progressive house” in the 90s. It’s Leftfield, of course. The duo known for quite literally bringing down the house was made up of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley, but is now driven by Barnes, as Daley decided to focus on his solo career.
The band formed in London in 1989 and released two albums: Leftism (1995) and Rhythm and Stealth (1999) which defined a genre. This new album, Alternative Light Source — which was just announced today — will be released on June 8th, 2015. The first single, “Universal Everything” can be instantly downloaded with a pre-order of the album. But you can give it a listen right here.
And let me tell you, after sixteen years, this one comes way out of Leftfield.
