With his original EP coming out later this year, the Portland-based alt-rock/electropop musician went back to — well, anything but basics — and turned up the New Wave groove. The cover of the classic carries all the same power and energy of the original, but icnludes a rocking guitar accentuation to pull it gracefully into new territory. This is part of the Matt Lande spin.
Produced with crystal clarity by Lande himself — he also mixed the track, which was mastered by Andy Walter at Abbey Road Studios, London — the layers of sound mimic the lushness of the original track. Any fan of the 80s will be excited to hear this revamped tune. By the celebratory, synth-fuelled end, you’ll feel a little lighter.
