There is a natural air to Metaphortune’s music, perhaps because of the lively way in which the guitar lines weave in and amongst each other, or the crunch of the percussion that saunters forward, like some elegant-yet-lethal creature of the woods. The Ohio-based artist — known outside of his musical identity as Ken Miller — is preparing to release his debut EP, Calcite & Sandstone, and you can hear the first single, “Monument” above.
“Monument” plays within the buzzy sonic world Metaphortune has created, but explores outside the realm with a bridge that launches onto a new plane, something dislocated from the reality that at first felt so present, so spacious. With precision and depth reminiscent of Foals and an emotional intensity all his own, Metaphortune sets up what is sure to be a journey of an EP.
Calcite & Sandstone will be released on July 11th, and “Monument” is available for free download on Bandcamp and Soundcloud. To follow Metaphortune as we await the EP, you can check out his Tumblr, Twitter, and website.
