I’d like to think that we’ve all been rescued by music, at some time or another. It’s an art form that exists in real-time, but has the ability to pull us out of reality and into something else — something outside of ourselves, our comfort zones, and into what feels like another world. This is what Paul Van Dyk captures in his track “Music Rescues Me”, from his upcoming album of the same name, to be released on October 12th, 2018.
Plumb provides the vocals for the track — a collaboration that has been anticipated since their last track together, 2012’s “I Don’t Deserve You” — and her voice soars into the stratosphere. It is fitting that in the clip she is shown amongst glimmering stars, as though she herself is untethered by the limitations of Earth. Everything about “Music Rescues Me” sparkles. The synth lines play the lead role while piano grandiosity chimes in, progressing growth as the video provides narrative and glittery views of city lights. Follow three young people as they weave their way across the city on a musical scavenger hunt, creating memories and connections in the modern age.
Ending on a “To Be Continued”, we can only wait and see how this story wraps up. While we wait, you can find Paul Van Dyk on his website, his Facebook page, and Twitter. You can also find Plumb on Facebook.
