Seasonal appropriateness alert: there is just enough spookiness in Radiator King’s video for “The Guns You Pawned” to make it the perfect Halloween track.

Radiator King steeps himself in all sorts of history: having his roots in punk music and a strong affinity for Americana, “The Guns You Pawned” brings timeless black-and-white images of fire, sparks, and card games together so that temporally placing the track becomes secondary to embracing the atmosphere.

Adam Silvestri’s gritty punk vocals rub up against an acoustic guitar line as electric guitar licks give a country energy of wide open spaces and dark backwoods. The video uses creative editing and image choices to make for an interesting blending of themes. A guitar hanging from a noose opens the clip, which fades away to allow the two characters to inhabit the outside and inside realms, then join together in the final image for a burial.

Radiator King has held on to the DIY cultural element of the punk scene and has courageously brought it to his edgy genre-defying work. To hear more from him, check out his website, Facebook page, and Spotify. You can also find him on Twitter.
