With recent releases of Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool, James Blake’s The Colour in Anything, and Skepta’s Konnichiwa, the UK has completely taken over the charts. London’s own, Sampha keeps things rolling with his triumpant return in “Timmy’s Prayer.”
Best known for his collaborations with the likes of Drake and SBTRKT, the electronic music producer/singer-songwriter has been largely absent from the music scene since 2013’s Dual EP. With the release of this long-awaited track, Sampha writes, “It’s been a while…I’ve had a lot to process these past couple of years, as we all do, and it’s hard to articulate sometimes. I wanted to say thank you to all the people who’ve shown me so much love and support. I’m looking forward to start sharing my music with you again.”
Sampha’s amazing voice is on display in “Timmy’s Prayer,” which evolves from a soft, melodic single to one that builds in emotion to an electronic exclamation point. The track is all that one could ask for with Sampha’s solo reintroduction to the music world and we can’t wait to see what’s on the horizon.
