Shihori celebrates uniqueness wholeheartedly, encouraging those around her to embrace themselves after her own journey of hardship and self-acceptance.

With “Perfect Imperfection” the songstress finds joy in her own life and inspires those listening to feel the same thing. On top of the message, proceeds from the single are going to the Joyful Heart Foundation, who help victims of sexual abuse, DV, and child abuse.

Shihori was born deaf in one ear, and believes that the hearing that remained helped lead her to find everything musical. Since she was a child, she could draw people in with her powerhouse vocals — vocals that are on display on “Perfect Imperfection”. Having also survived kidnapping, she fuels her music with an anthemic power that builds up until it surrounds you: a fight song.

The control Shihori wields over her voice is impressive, and the pop-hooks and slow rise of the track compliment her skill set. After writing for some of Japan’s most famous contemporary musicians, Shihori is really carving out a space for herself.

“Perfect Imperfection” is a song of survival, gratefulness, and beauty, created by someone who possesses an incredible ability to wield all three.

To hear more from Shihori, you can find her on her website, SoundCloud, and Facebook page. You can also find her on Twitter for more music and news.
