With the release date of his newest project Dark Red steadily approaching, L.A electro-bass producer Shlohmo has whetted our appetites with the release of audio and visuals for his new single “Beams”. The track’s video is directed by Jack Irving and is an anarchaic assortment of ruggedly filmed clips which follow Shlohmo and pals drinking and causing all sorts of trouble around New York City. Nick Melons, co-founder of Shlohmo’s label WeDidIt, has stated that the video highlights “the rawness and nostalgic carelessness we associate with being young.” The track is typically bass heavy, but utilises lagging drum rolls and nostalgic wind chimes to create a piece that somehow feels ominous and fun at the same time, with the jolting clips that comprise the video satisfyingly changing in time to the music.

Dark Red is available on April 7th via Panther / WeDidIt. Watch the video for new track “Beams” above.
