The Spiders – “Election Day”

Art is reactionary, and the timely release of The Spiders new single “Election Day” wholly embraces this idea. With the anger and explicit political outrage of a punk song, this rock trio want you be able to sing — or perhaps scream — along with the track, so they released a lyric video for your enjoyment.

“Press the lever and hope for the best,” vocalist and guitarist Nick DeStefano sings, “Nobody wins, this country’s a mess.” It’s a sentiment that hits home for a lot of Americans right now, but The Spiders want to create a foundation for discussion. Just look to the comments, where DeStefano responds thoughtfully. There is no call not to vote, but rather a call to be involved, to talk about the options, to recognize the situation for what it is.

With wailing guitar solos and a heavily energetic spirit, it’s hard to not have a reaction to this rock tune. It’s a sign of things to come, in more ways than one. To keep up with The Spiders as we await more music (and live shows), check out their website and Nick DeStefano’s Youtube page.
