They’ve already become known as ‘the hardest working act in Chicago’, and 7-piece Windy City group The O’My’s have been busy this week with the release of laid-back and pleasingly nostalgic track “THE BLUNT”, featuring work from same-city rapper Encyclopedia Brown. The track comes off the upcoming compilation mixtape Chicago Sight ‘N’ Sound which is being curated and put together by local artistic collectives The FDC and 119 Productions.
Still riding off the success of their excellent Keeping The Faith EP, The O’My’s are spending their time doing and shows releasing new tracks with Mick Jenkins (with a new one, released today, that can be heard HERE).
“THE BLUNT” is a laid-back offering (and an obvious ode to the herb), which has elements that remind of an oldschool West Coast Hip Hop track from the 90s. The track is self-produced, with assistance from in-demand bassist Carter Lang. We think it’s great, and look forward to hearing more.
