Overshadowed in global Grime recognition by possibly only Skepta, Lewisham mic-man Stormzy seems to be the go-to guy for internationally pushing Grime music right now. Following just coming off a recent UK tour, Stormzy has today been featured on the debut single from secretive production-duo The Stray Doggz, alongside a feature from internationally renowned UK Grime artist Wretch 32. The two MCs snap back and forth with quickly alternating verses over a bouncy EDM-style beat that is different from the aggressive Grime instrumentals you may be used to hearing these artists on, but it works fantastically.
The track is currently listed as ‘private’ on Soundcloud, and can only be listened to by following the link HERE to see the Pigeons & Planes premiere of the song.
Talking to P&P The Stray Doggz said of the collab: “We were blessed enough to get two of the biggest artists in the UK on a tune together. Wretch 32 and Stormzy are artists that we both respect highly and to get them on our debut single, is an honour. To see them both working together was truly inspiring, and we knew we had made something special.”
When asked about the linkup, Wretch 32 said: “The Stray Doggz reached out and played me a few of their records. This is the one I wanted to off-load on. Sometimes you’ve gotta let the dogs off the lead.”
