Tim Spelman is good at starting songs, Therese Karlsson is good at finishing them. In a move that transcends national borders in the name of art, these two artists found each other and created the project Tiny Fighter, and now they are releasing their debut single “New Century” with a video that makes you feel as though the world is both endless and, yes, tiny.
“New Century” is a clean and catchy indie-pop song with a groove bass line that interacts with the near-psychedelic images that fill the clip. The dual vocals fill out the song as the guitar plucks a melody that lingers with you long after the song ends. The video — which was directed by and stars Kyle V James & Mallori Taylor — was recorded entirely with a 360 degree camera which lends a futuristic but completely earthly tone. Forests become planets and a motorcycle trip becomes and endless image in the world created on screen. The lyrics of the song explore ideas of destiny and reality and implores us to go for our dreams: “If you never try, you’ll never know.”
Keep your eyes open for Tiny Fighter as they march towards the release of their debut record and plan tours of Europe, Australia, and perhaps North America in the future.
