Yaeji’s electro-pop ode to adulting takes on a new meaning in the current age. The Queens-born, Korea- and East Coast-raised artist finds hooks in repetition and sugar-sweet melodies driven by whisper-soft vocals. Sometimes, you just have to celebrate achieving the little things.
Though this artist’s list of achievements is anything but little. Yaeji has previously produced remixes for an impressive lineup of artists including Charlie XCX and Robyn. She has also sold two headlining worldwide tours and there’s a clear reason why: Yaeji will draw you into her world.
Literally. In the clip for her track “WAKING UP DOWN” she designed and illustrated characters. Taking on the day with her loveable sidekick Woofa, Yaeji moves between finding the upside in her routines and facing the struggles that come from the everyday. In a video-game setting in which defeated bosses become one of the gang, positivity is the ultimate outcome.
